Pick it up and Read (Podcast #2)

The title of this podcast has its roots in Augustine (354-430), who met God when he heard a voice say, “Pick it up and read!” and when he finally went to the nearest codex of Paul’s Letters, he read Romans 13. There he was confronted by his sin, and the light of God flooded his heart. With similar experiences, we explore conversation with God through Bible reading. We both speak of our first encounter with Christ and how this relates to reading our Scriptures in relationship – vertically with God and horizontally with each other.

In his walk with Christ, Ron has discovered this thing he calls Bible Read Throughs (if you want to know more about what it is or how to enjoy the Scriptures this way, click here). Bible Read Throughs are where at least two people read their Bibles like a novel (fast pace, say 3-4 months, to enjoy God’s story) and meet up weekly to share underlines (things in the story that week God impressed upon your heart). It’s been a grand adventure to chase Christ this way; maybe after this video, you’ll want to try it!
